Integrating Ideas

Outcome II- Be able to integrate their ideas with others using summary, paraphrase, quotation, analysis, and synthesis of relevant sources.

My experience with this outcome has been somewhat improved, but I feel that I still struggle with the synthesis piece of multiple sources, as I have a hard time putting together the big picture and really visualizing the conversation between authors, which leads me to just find some similar quotes and try to put them together best that I can. I do, however, do better with positioning my ideas with another authors’.

In terms of building relationships, I think I handle it better. I find that I can use evidence in an author’s text and use it to contribute to an overall idea for that authors piece, as well as relating it to my own ideas through different methods of relationship extension, something I learned in the most recent paper where I started to say things like, “They are mostly right here, with the exception of..,” which, in my opinion, is a good example of how this outcome has been developed in my work.

As far as quote and evidential usage goes, I started to establish better embedding of quotes and how they fit into each paragraph, or how I used my personal sentences to better set up and review the quote, althewhile beginning to introduce and intertwine my own ideas with the quotes.
