Peer Review

Outcome IV – Be able to critique their own and others’ work by emphasizing global revision early in the writing process and local revision later in the process.

When going through the revision process and peer editing, I wanted to focus on showing others some things that I had learned that, perhaps, they had not learned themselves, effectively sealing the new knowledge into the long-term compartments of my brain through helping others. I focused a lot on analysis and ensuring that my peer group had the proper analysis and the evidence to back it up. As evidenced in the attached paper and the comments within, I often would provide feedback as to where something could be added or taken out, or where a deeper connection could be drawn between authors. In my concluding statements, I often liked to give a sort of “state of the paper” and tell the peer where I think would be a good place for them to start as they revise, as I know personally sometimes I get a lot of feedback on papers and don’t really know where to start, so I liked to give that to my group.
